The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the participation of Hispanics professionals and college students in the fields of engineering, science and math. National in scope, our organization is composed of 50 professional chapters with about 2000 members and 200 student chapters with a membership of more than 10,000 college students. Professional and Student chapters are located throughout the United States.
The organization provides leadership and networking opportunities to its members and helps in furthering their education, advancing their careers and promoting their recognition. SHPE also engages in outreach programs to increase interest and participation of Hispanics in the engineering, scientific and mathematics fields.
SHPE’s fundraising arm, Advancing Hispanic Excellence in Technology, Engineering, Math & Science (AHETEMS), Inc. is a nonprofit 501 (c) 3, organization that finances scholarship and development of programs for Hispanics in the fields of engineering, science and math. AHETEMS, Inc. works very closely with SHPE, Inc. and uses our infrastructure in the conduct of its programs.
Together, SHPE Inc. and AHETEMS, Inc. constitutes a very significant resource to the nation, corporations, government organizations and the Hispanic population in improving the personnel in the technical fields that will be so critical in the twenty-first century.
